A-ICE, a specialist aviation IT solutions provider, was recently selected as a software partner by Aeroitalia, Italy’s newest airline. The partnership has seen A-ICE’s flexible cloud-based software portfolio play a key role in supporting Aeroitalia’s recently launched route between Milan Bergamo and London Heathrow.
Aeroitalia, which operates charter and regional scheduled routes across Europe, began flying to London Heathrow on December 8, 2022. To support this expansion, A-ICE deployed two of its products: A-DCS, a departure control system, and A-WBS, a solution for securely controlling weight and balance.
The implementation of these systems required A-ICE to demonstrate seamless integration with baggage reconciliation systems at London Heathrow, CUTE systems and traffic control systems. The implementation was largely conducted remotely from A-ICE’s headquarters in Rome, with additional on-site support during the project’s final testing stages.
“It has been a privilege to support Aeroitalia on the latest phase of their expansion,” said Carlos Fernandes, UK Sales Manager at A-ICE. “This is a dynamic new airline, making them an excellent fit for our flexible cloud-based solutions. We hope to build on the strength of this partnership into the future.“
Aeroitalia’s IT Manager, Massimiliano Zema, also commented on the partnership, saying “The commitment, support and expertise of the A-ICE team have been crucial in delivering the system enhancements necessary to accommodate our scheduled expansion to London Heathrow. A-ICE has consistently demonstrated a clear understanding of the specific IT challenges facing a growth business such as ours, and they have been able to answer those challenges through the straightforward implementation of effective, efficient technology.“
Founded by Marc Bourgade and German Efromovich, Aeroitalia is led by CEO Gaetano Intrieri. The airline plans to add two more aircraft to its fleet of three Boeing 737-800s by summer 2023 to support its ongoing expansion plans.
Claudio Ferrari, Co-Founder and Commercial Director of A-ICE, said “We are delighted that our technology has been selected by Aeroitalia. For airline partners in today’s market, being able to respond with agility to market opportunities means being able to rely on a robust yet flexible technology platform, and our cloud-based portfolio of solutions has been designed to deliver on that premise.“
The partnership between A-ICE and Aeroitalia serves as a prime example of the benefits that can be achieved through the implementation of flexible cloud-based solutions in the airline industry. The ability to integrate seamlessly with existing systems and support expansion plans was key to Aeroitalia’s successful launch of its London Heathrow route. A-ICE’s proven track record in the aviation industry, and its commitment to delivering effective and efficient technology, made it the perfect partner for the airline’s IT needs.
